AICTE-VAANI scheme for advancing Indian languages

A total of two crore rupees has been sanctioned to support 100 conferences and seminars that will be held in 12 regional languages.

AICTE-VAANI, an initiative launched by the All India Council for Technical Education, aims to encourage students and teachers to speak Indian languages for better teaching and learning.
AICTE Chairman Prof. T.G. Sitharam and Padma Shri Awardee and Chairman of the High Powered Committee for the Promotion of Indian Languages Shri Chamu Krishna Shastry inaugurated VAANI, which stands for Vibrant Advocacy for Advancement and Nurturing of Indian Languages, at AICTE Headquarters in New Delhi.
The programme would give AICTE-approved institutions financial support to hold two- to three-day conferences, seminars, and workshops in cutting-edge technical education subjects in twelve regional languages. A maximum of 100 conferences each year would get financial support under the plan, with each conference receiving Rs 2 lakh. There will be eight conferences among the 100.Under the scheme, a maximum of 100 conferences annually will be financially supported with Rs 2 lakh per conference. The 100 conferences will include eight conferences per regional language (Gujarati, Marathi, Telugu, Tamil, Punjabi, Bengali, Kannada, Assamese, Malayalam, Odia, & Urdu) and twelve conferences in Hindi. An amount of Rs 2 crore will be reimbursed by AICTE under the scheme.
