The Joint Masters program accepting applications from the University of Birmingham and IIT Madras.

The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) and the University of Birmingham are collaborating to introduce a new joint Masters program in Sustainable Energy Systems. Applications are now being accepted for this new course at the institutions.

The new course will assist its graduates in becoming professionals in a rapidly expanding industry that is leading the battle against climate change, building on the success of the partners’ inaugural Joint Masters program in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, which was launched last year. After completing their studies in Chennai and Birmingham, students will get a single degree that is jointly granted by both universities. Additionally, they will work on a sizable independent project with globally renowned research organizations, which will allow them to apply their skills to problems in the real world.

From the creation of the first hydrogen refueling station and boat in the United Kingdom to the development of large-scale energy storage, cold-chain technology in Africa, and large-scale facilities for nuclear energy applications, the University of Birmingham has a long and illustrious history in energy research and education.

For nearly 15 years, the Birmingham Energy Institute (BEI) has been in operation. It was one of the earliest initiatives at a UK university to give multidisciplinary energy research more identity and cohesiveness. The program allows students to choose whether to finish in Birmingham or at IIT Madras. Students will start the program by enrolling in classes at IIT Madras and finishing the industry placement.

Backed by its India Institute, which seeks to raise Birmingham’s engagement in India’s profile, influence, and coherence, the University of Birmingham maintains several important collaborations.
