Odisha became the first state to establish a 33 percent quota for government positions.
The Odisha government declared on Tuesday that female employees in the state’s different government ministries will get additional incentives. The statement states that female employees would now receive an extra 10 days of paid time off each year. Today, the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) made an official notification. Currently, government workers are entitled to fifteen days of unpaid time off annually. After the news, female government workers will now be eligible for 25 days of paid leave, plus an additional 10 leaves annually.
The state administration made the declaration in light of household duties and other issues that female government employees confront. It is important to note that in the 1990s, Odisha became the first state to establish a 33 percent quota for government positions. The Odisha government recently stated that staff members at different non-government-aided educational institutions will receive 15 days of casual leave annually. In addition, women block grant employees are entitled to 180 days of paid maternity leave for every two live births.
