Key Changes for CUET 2025:
- The exam will be conducted exclusively in CBT mode.
- The number of subjects has been reduced from 63 to 37.
The University Grants Commission is revamping the Common University Entrance Test, or CUET, and some significant changes are expected in 2025. One major change is that the exam will now be conducted entirely in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode, replacing the previous hybrid mode. Additionally, the number of subjects has been reduced from 63 to 37, and students can now choose to appear for a maximum of five subjects. The exam duration has also been standardized to 60 minutes for all subjects.
Another important change is that students can now appear for the CUET exam in any subject, regardless of what they studied in Class 12. This move aims to provide students with more flexibility and allow them to explore different disciplines for higher education. The eligibility criteria remain largely the same, with Indian citizens, OCI, PIO, and foreign candidates eligible to apply. However, there is no age limit to appear for the CUET UG exam.
The application process will also see some changes, with the registration window expected to open in the last week of February and close in the last week of March. The application fee will vary depending on the number of subjects opted for by the candidate. The admission process will remain the same, with participating universities offering admissions based on the CUET scores.
Some other key changes include the removal of foreign languages and the reduction of domain subjects from 29 to 23. The reservation policy remains the same, with 10% reservation for EWS, 27% for OBC-NCL, 7.5% for ST, 15% for SC, and 5% for PwD.
